April 2019

This month's newsletter is going to be something different. We are going to freshen it up! It is spring, ya know?? We're going live!

Join us for our live event this month on Friday, April 12th from 5:30-7 pm! The workshop is called SPRING CLEAN: Body Edition. Here are the deets:

Get rid of all of your old, worn, and dated ideas about exercise and nutrition and REFRESH your approach using the latest research to FINALLY experience change. Mixing science and humor, join Angela Garcia of AG Fitness, in a casual setting as she brings research, data, and a splash of hilarity to this "Let's talk, girl" series.

This event will consist of two 45 minute classes back to back-one on nutrition and one on exercise. Questions to be covered?

-How much exercise do I have to actually do to lose the extra poundage on my back side? (Spoiler alert: Research says A LOT! Pro-tip: Get your nutrition squared away for this.)

-What the heck am I supposed to do with all of the nutritional information out there that, ahem, is contradictory?

-Is there any hope for me if I hate exercising. (Yes!)

-How do I get chiseled arms if my biceps only work to put food in my mouth?

-How much wine can I actually get away with??

--

Join us for some fun but leave with science-based actionable tips that will change you.

This event is complimentary for our Unlimited Members. Tickets at the AG "Drop in day pass" priceof $15 are available for this workshop for everyone!

Let's talk, girl.

Cheers,

Angela

March 2019

Refuel: to take on a fresh supply of what makes you go.

Some days I feel like I’m running on fumes. On these days, it seems like I’m losing a raging war against time. I feel urgency, panic, and exhaustion. Anyone else??

I want to share with you a word that I made up. I made it up because there was no word in the English language that could describe this emotion to my satisfaction. I’m most likely feeling this when I’m depleted; operating from scarcity and feeling like ALL THE THINGS keep piling up. Kids, bills, work, responsibilities, guilt, shame...shall I go on?

The word is “Overwhelmger”. It’s the anger that erupts when I’m feeling overwhelmed. I have no patience with myself, no patience with the process, and sadly, no patience for my unsuspecting family members...my easy-going husband and three moody teenagers.

When I’m in this state, I can’t seem to get out of my own way. I create chaos like a bull in a china shop. My daily chores seem, at best, incredibly annoying. My family? I can tell you right now, seem to be idling lazily on beach chairs while I graciously drown in a glass of water.

The good thing about naming this emotion is that I can recognize it quickly and take action. There is one thing I need to do: REFUEL.

Refuel means something different for everybody. What does it mean to you?

For me, refueling is about giving myself what I need to hum along creatively, lovingly, mindfully, and joyfully.

As an introvert, I crave quiet time alone to read, meditate, pray, think, read, and learn. As a dancer, I crave time to move, express, and create art. As an athlete, I crave a good sweat sesh, a hearty challenge, and the thrill of successfully accomplishing a goal. As a social introvert, I crave time to connect with family and close friends who I don’t need to be “on” for and who love me just as I am. (My husband might be partial to the version of me that is not an overwhelmed mess but, miraculously, he loves me either way.)

Our theme for the month at AG is REFUEL. We know that our studio is an oasis for many of you to come on by and stay awhile. We’ve always said that we’re like Cheers, “where everybody knows your name and we’re always glad you came”.

Stop in for a workout. Stop in for the camaraderie. Stop in for the state of flow that emerges when you blissfully immerse yourself in what you love to do.

Recommit to giving yourself what you need. Reconnect with yourself and reconnect with our beautiful community who love you just the way you are. (Even when you arrive a lil' overwhelmgry.)

There’s a little spot in Stratham...Refuel, friend.

xo,

Angela

PS. To help inspire your refueling efforts, we always have the best classes developed by nationally certified instructors and trainers that are uncompromising in excellence but also seriously fun! Click here to fill up your tank once a week.

Additionally, this month, we have 30 copies of The Joy of Now: Mindfulness in 5 minutes a day by Paige Burkes. It’s a beautifully illustrated, easy to complete (think fill in the blanks!) journal that will help you slow down and refuel. They will be sold at the studio for $15 through March 8.

Finally, to refuel in a more literal sense, Laney & Lu Inspired Eatery will be showcasing (our compliments!) some of their healthy grab ’n go items after class at 10 am on Saturday March 9th. We will have their signature bars at the studio for sale for the rest of the month. Talk about healthy refueling! It doesn’t get better than plant based, nutrient dense, local, and organic deliciousness. Enjoy!
